Chickpea flour is made from dry chickpeas and is also known as garbanzo flour, gram flour and besan. It is a naturally gluten free, dense flour, and makes a fantastic binder for baking or for dishes that need a little extra stability like fritters, so is a regular star in many vegan dishes. It is also makes an incredibly light tempura-like batter for frying, and is a great thickener for sauces and soups.
